Leaving the legendary Copacabana behind us, we’ll proceed along Avenida Atlantica and, passing the point, we’ll reach Ipanema. Take all the photos you want: you’re in Rio, the world’s most beautiful city.
To your right is the elegant neighborhood that is the birthplace of the Bossa Nova.
To your left is the beach or, better yet, “a praia” that separates the ocean from the lagoon.
Seeing the magnificent stretch of sand, tanned bodies, and colors and hearing the music, you’ll want to dance.
If you want to try the green coconut water, there’s a typical chiringuito right over there.
When you’re in this part of Rio, it feels as if you’re in a thousand different places at the same time. Styles, languages, and fragrances blend. It’s a little bit of Portofino and a touch of the Cyclades: a never-ending journey with a chic and sporty, classic and military look. It’s like wearing a shirt and tie underneath a wetsuit, alternating neoprene and cotton satin, or playing with surreal photo prints that give objects a virtual three dimensionality.
Certain things you can only see here, and it’s not only the panorama: it’s the energy that envelops this beach and makes it very special.
Tomorrow, we’ll meet in the airport. When you hear the notes of “Garota de Ipanema” and smell the scent of exotic fruits, don’t worry if you feel a strange sensation of serene nostalgia coursing throughout your body: it’s called saudade, a longing to return.
